GeneSight is a pharmacogenomic test, which means it looks at how your genes may affect the way you respond to psychiatric medications. From a simple cheek swab, it analyzes clinically important genetic variations in your DNA and reports how you may break down or respond to more than 60 medications commonly used for depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other conditions.
It will not tell you exactly which medication will work, and it does not diagnose any condition. What it does is replace some of the trial and error with information, so the person prescribing your medication can make a more informed choice, and you can spend less time on medications that were never going to fit your body.

Your pre test visit
We meet to review your history, your current and past medications, and what you are hoping to understand. If GeneSight is right for you, we order the test and collect your cheek swab in office, or arrange for a kit to be sent to your home. This visit is where we make sure the test is genuinely worth doing for you.
Your test
Your swab is sent to the laboratory. Results typically return in about one week. The laboratory bills you directly for the test itself, separate from our consultation fee. Most patients pay $330 or less for the test, and many Medicare Part B patients pay nothing for it.
Your results review and written plan
We sit down together to walk through your results in plain language, what they mean for you, and what they suggest about your medications. You leave with a written summary you can take to whoever manages your prescriptions. After this, our work together is complete, with no ongoing commitment. If you would like help finding a provider for ongoing medication management, we are glad to point you in the right direction.
Transparent, no surprises.
Medicare Part B: if you are a Medicare beneficiary, your visits may be billed to Medicare rather than paid as a flat fee, and your test is often covered at no cost to you. Ask us and we will walk you through it.
A genetic report is only as useful as the clinician reading it.
GeneSight results are not a prescription and not a simple green light or red light. They require real psychiatric knowledge to interpret in the context of your history, your symptoms, and your goals. Here, your results are reviewed by a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who understands both the science and the medications, so you get genuine guidance, not just a printout.

Will this tell me exactly which medication to take?
No. GeneSight provides information about how you may respond to different medications. It informs the decision; it does not make it. The final choice always rests with you and your prescriber.
Do you prescribe medications at Resolute Healthcare?
Resolute Healthcare provides the GeneSight consultation and interpretation, not ongoing medication management. If you need a prescriber, we will gladly refer you.
How long does it take?
Results usually return about a week after your swab. Your two visits with us are scheduled around that timeline.
Can I use my results with my own doctor?
Absolutely. You receive a written summary designed to be shared with whoever manages your medications.
Does insurance cover this?
The laboratory handles test billing and works with many insurance plans, with most patients paying $330 or less. Our consultation fee is cash pay unless you are a Medicare beneficiary, in which case ask us about coverage.
